Matia Kasaija is a Ugandan politician. He is the current Minister for Finance in Uganda's Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 1 March 2015, replacing Maria Kiwanuka, who was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor for Finance. From 27 May 2011 until 28 February 2015, he served as the State Minister for Finance (Planning) in the Cabinet of Uganda. He replaced Ephraim Kamuntu, who was promoted to Minister of Tourism. Before that, he served as the State Minister for Internal Affairs, from 1 June 2006 until May 2011. He is also the elected Member of Parliament for "Buyanja County", Kibaale District. ==Background and education== He was born in Kibaale District on 28 May 1944. He studied at Makerere University, back in the 1960's when it was part of the University of East Africa. Kasaija graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) circa 1967.〔
